How long do golf tournaments last

How long do golf tournaments last

Golf tournaments are a great way to spend time with friends, colleagues, clients or prospects.  Playing golf with someone for more than four hours can tell a lot about a person’s character. How long do golf tournaments last is an ambigious question as there are variables that will contribute to the length of the tournament.
For starters, how many golfers are playing?  A full field for a golf tournament is 144 golfers.  When playing in a tournament of 144 players expect to spend at least five hours on the course.
Another big variable for how long a golf tournament will take is whether or not the tournament is a shotgun start.  Traditional rounds golfers start on hole number 1 and end on hole 18.  A shotgun start, however, players will begin on any one of the 18 holes.  The benefit to having players start on different holes is that golfers can all finish around the same time.
Golf tournaments are a great way for a 501 (c) (3) to raise money.  Many charities use golf tournaments as a way to get players to the dinner and auction in the evening.  The auction is often times the most profitable aspect of a golf tournament for a charity.
There are many different games that can be played for a golf tournament. One of the most common games played is known as a scramble.  In a scramble players are paired with three other golfers to form a team (a foursome). All players hit a tee shot. The team selects the best tee shot and picks up the other three balls and drop them at the best tee shot.  All players hit their 2nd shot from the same spot, again selecting the best shot and collecting the remaining three balls.  This continues until the ball is holed.
Because of the gorgeous weather and plethora of golf courses to choose from many companies will do their annual retreat to Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona. Having a Scottsdale golf tournament is a great way for golfers of all skill levels to play challenging and competitive golf. The best time to visit Scottsdale for golf is November, December, January, February, March and April.  The most expensive time to play golf in Scottsdale is February and March.
Every year the PGA plays a FedEx Cup Championship tournament at TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. The tournament is known as the biggest party on turn aka the Waste Management Open. The Scottsdale Tournament brings hundreds of thousands of golfers to Scottsdale to watch and play some of the best golf courses in the nation.
